Facebook chief executive and founder Mark Zuckerberg said the social media giant will moderate US President Donald Trump’s social media posts despite snowballing pressure.

Facebook chief executive and founder Mark Zuckerberg said the social media giant will moderate US President Donald Trump’s social media posts despite snowballing pressure.

One of Trump’s post read “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” pertaining to continued unrest in the US, following the death of George Floyd, an African-American, in Minneapolis.

In a report, Zuckerberg told Facebook employees “that he was standing firm in the company’s decision not to moderate” the said post.

The Facebook chief told employees of the decision via a virtual meeting.

Public criticisms continue to mount against the social media giant.

At least two Facebook employees have gone public and joined the outcry.

Facebook software engineer Brandon Dail, tweeted “I cannot stand by Facebook’s continued refusal to act on the president’s bigoted messages aimed at radicalizing the American public” before handing over his resignation.

Facebook partners, including Color of Change, also expressed dismay over Zuckerberg’s decision.

A CNBC report quoted the tweet of Color of Change President Rashad Robinson saying that “he was disappointed and stunned by his incomprehensible explanations for allowing Trump’s incitement of violence against Black people to remain up.”

Color of Change is an advocacy group and racial justice organization working with Facebook.

Another Facebook partner, Talkspace, also said it was ending its partnership with the social media giant.

Talkspace is an online tech company providing online therapy. It disclosed its decision to call off its partnership with Facebook on Monday.
