Globe emerged as the most improved in mobile average download speed across all technologies.
Globe’s aggressive and sustained network builds and upgrades are showing enhanced overall customer data experience as the telco emerged as the most improved in mobile average download speed across all technologies to 16.44 Mbps in Q4 2020 from 13.50 Mbps in Q4 2019, a 22% improvement according to Ookla data.
Based on a report from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the company has led new cell site builds; a testament to Globe’s support towards the government’s initiative to improve the country’s overall state of connectivity. To date, around 90 percent of Globe’s cell towers are now equipped with 4G LTE technology.
In Ookla’s January 2021 Speedtest Global Index data, the Philippines climbed 10 spots in terms of mobile download speed at 25.77 Mbps.
“We are seeing the fruits of our massive efforts and investments towards network and service upgrades, and customers are able to feel improvements especially those who have started shifting to or have already moved to 4G LTE,” said Ernest L. Cu, Globe’s president and chief executive.
Globe puts into action its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint by actively supporting the Race To Zero global campaign spearheaded by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and COP26 Presidency and backed by the GSMA, the global mobile industry body.
