The COVID-19 pandemic compelled a lot of Filipinos — including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) — to invest in insurance products. Latest statistics from the Insurance Commission states that insurance penetration or the contribution of the insurance industry to the Philippine economy is at 2.3% in the first quarter of 2021. To help bring insurance products closer to more Filipinos, PLDT Global Corporation has teamed up with the country’s largest online insurance marketplace, Kwik.insure, to provide overseas Filipinos with convenient access to reliable insurance products via Free Bee.

One-stop shop for OFWs
Overseas Filipinos can enjoy free two-minute calls to their loved ones who are customers of PLDT, Smart, and TNT in the Philippines. Or they can also subscribe to premium calls which would allow them to make affordable calls to their families even if they are offline or do not use a smartphone.
The upgraded Free Bee app also allows Filipinos in Canada, South Korea, United States, India, Singapore, Australia, and Japan to use a Virtual Philippine Number — a local Smart number that is assigned or paired to their Free Bee account– so that their families in the Philippines can freely call or text them and be charged only with local rates.
Free Bee users can also enjoy unlimited app-to-app calls and messages with their friends when they are online, wherever they are in the world.
Free Bee also comes with Bee Coins – an in-app digital currency or credit that allows the user to purchase any call or text plans within the app. Free Bee users can easily purchase prepaid load on the Bee Shop and send it to their families back home, or pay for Philippine bills even if they are abroad.
