Leading integrated telco network PLDT Inc (PLDT), its B2B arm PLDT Enterprise and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications are urging subscribers with Smart Satellite (SmartSAT) prepaid SIM cards to register their SIMs ahead of the deadline on July 25, 2023 to ensure continued service.

“As mandated under the SIM Registration Act, you also need to register your SmartSAT SIMs. Otherwise, any unregistered satellite SIM will be deactivated after the set SIM registration deadline by the government,” said Mitch Locsin, First Vice President and Head of Enterprise and International Business Groups of PLDT and Smart.

SmartSAT provides voice calls, emails, text messages, and data services in areas with compromised or difficult cellular coverage. The service is useful to individuals and communities in critical and demanding fields such as the media, the military, adventure tourism, and the country’s disaster and emergency response agencies, as well as to business groups and even private entities who need the security of having a back-up or enhanced mobile coverage, for extreme scenarios when everything else breaks down.

To register, individual subscribers and authorized company representatives must fill out the appropriate Smart SAT Registration form for Individual or Corporate accounts and email a scanned and signed copy to smartsatsimreg@smart.com.ph.

Individual customers also need to send a scanned copy of a valid Government-Issued ID and a selfie photo.

Private companies need to send their certificate of registration, a valid ID of their company’s authorized signatory and secretary’s certificate or special power of attorney designating the authorized signatory.

Government agencies, on the other hand, need to send their certificate of registration with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) or BIR Form 2303, a valid ID of the authorized signatory, and a Department or Office Order or any other similar document duly signed by the head of the government entity, designating the authorized representative(s) to register the acquired SIMs for official use.

An email containing the SIM Registration Certificate Number will be sent out afterwards to confirm the successful registration.

All SIM users are required to register their SIMs, according to Republic Act No. 11934 or the Subscriber Identity Module Registration Act.

This includes subscribers of Smart Enterprise Postpaid Plans, Smart Enterprise Extension Postpaid Lines, PLDT Fixed Wireless Services with SIM component, and Smart Satellite devices and SIMs.

Meanwhile, Smart Prepaid and TNT customers can register their SIM at smart.com.ph/simreg or via the GigaLife App. Postpaid users, meanwhile, are considered registered using existing account details provided consistent with the SIM Registration Act. Smart Bro subscribers can proceed with SIM Registration by accessing their one-time password at smart.com.ph/viewbroadbandsms.

For their intensified efforts to ramp-up SIM registration across the country following the extension of the SIM Registration deadline, Smart and TNT continue to lead the industry, with over 48.5 million of their declared 66 million subscriber base already registered as of July 9. This translates to 73.19 percent of Smart and TNT’s subscribers.
