Dito Telecommunity led 5G performance in the Philippines from July 2024 to June 2025, according to the latest barometer report by network testing firm nPerf. The report, which evaluated download and upload speeds, latency, browsing, and streaming performance, found that while Dito held a clear technical advantage in most categories, its two major rivals—Smart Communications (including Sun and TNT) and Globe Telecom—also delivered strong, competitive results in specific areas.

Dito recorded the highest overall nPerf score of 81,855 points, backed by top-tier average download speeds of 235.94 Mbps and upload speeds of 20.86 Mbps. These figures are significantly higher than those of Smart (83.90 Mbps download, 12.16 Mbps upload) and Globe (72.56 Mbps download, 11.04 Mbps upload), underscoring Dito’s leadership in raw speed performance.

Despite its third-place finish in the video streaming category, Dito offered the best average latency among all providers at 63.00 milliseconds, alongside Globe’s similar figure of 63.75 ms. Lower latency is key for responsive online gaming and real-time applications.

Smart/Sun/TNT came in second overall with a score of 66,376 points and distinguished itself as a co-leader in video streaming, scoring 77.54% for performance—slightly ahead of Globe’s 75.96% and well above Dito’s 71.01%. Smart also performed well in browsing, with a 56.44% rate, and offered a robust everyday user experience despite having the highest average latency at 90.09 ms.

Globe, with an overall score of 64,826 points, matched Smart’s streaming performance and shared leadership in latency. While it didn’t lead in raw speed metrics, Globe maintained a balanced showing across all categories, appealing to users looking for a consistent and reliable network experience.

nPerf’s data was drawn from tests conducted during both busy and idle hours across the year, ensuring a realistic picture of user experience. Only national ISPs with at least 5% of the total test share—Dito (22%), Globe (34%), and Smart/Sun/TNT (44%)—were included in the analysis.

“Dito maintains its technical leadership in the sector,” nPerf noted, “while Smart and Globe have proven they can match or exceed in specific usage scenarios like video streaming and latency.”

The report concludes that the Philippine 5G landscape is now shaped by a competitive balance, with each major operator offering distinct strengths. Consumers benefit from this healthy rivalry, as it allows for greater choice based on specific usage preferences—whether speed, streaming, or low latency.
