Sophos has once again been recognized as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP), marking the 16th consecutive year the cybersecurity firm has earned the distinction since the category’s inception in 2007.
The company’s recognition highlights its suite of endpoint security offerings, including Sophos Endpoint with Intercept X, Extended Detection and Response (EDR/XDR), and Managed Detection and Response (MDR). More than 300,000 organizations globally rely on these tools to defend against sophisticated cyberthreats such as ransomware and live, human-led attacks.
According to Sophos, its differentiator lies in its prevention-first approach, which leverages adaptive defenses that can dynamically respond to threats in real time. “Sophos’ strength lies in its prevention-first strategy, designed to stop breaches before they start, adapt defenses in real time, and strengthen detection and response when it matters most,” said Kyle Falkenhagen, senior vice president of product management at Sophos.
The announcement comes on the heels of Sophos’ acquisition of Secureworks in February 2025. The move brings Secureworks’ Taegis XDR customers into the Sophos ecosystem, enabling integration with Sophos Endpoint at no extra cost. The acquisition also adds a new Counter Threat Unit to the Sophos X-Ops threat intelligence team, which the company says will bolster its ability to identify threat actors, detect anomalies, and stay ahead of emerging attacks.
Sophos was also named a “Customers’ Choice” in the 2025 Gartner Peer Insights Voice of the Customer Report for both Endpoint Protection Platforms and Extended Detection and Response, making it the only vendor recognized in both categories this year.
These recognitions further underscore Sophos’ position in the competitive endpoint protection market as it aims to provide scalable, AI-powered security solutions for businesses of all sizes.
