The iPhone 17 introduces a larger 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, a new Ceramic Shield 2 for durability, and the A19 chip, which Apple says improves performance and efficiency. The device features a 48-megapixel Dual Fusion rear camera system and a new Center Stage front camera that automatically adjusts for selfies and video calls.

Storage now starts at 256GB, with a 512GB option. It will be offered in black, lavender, mist blue, sage, and white starting at $799. Preorders open Sept. 12, with availability beginning Sept. 19.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max step further into professional-grade performance, powered by the A19 Pro chip and a redesigned aluminum unibody with a vapor chamber for heat dissipation. Both models introduce an 18MP Center Stage front camera, triple 48MP Fusion rear cameras, and support for advanced video formats including ProRes RAW and Apple Log 2. The Pro Max adds up to 8x optical-quality zoom, the longest in iPhone history.

The earbuds add heart rate monitoring for workouts, support for over 50 exercise types in the Fitness app, and Live Translation for face-to-face conversations across languages.

AirPods Pro 3 are priced at $249 and will be available Sept. 19.

Final Cut Camera update brings pro video tools to iPhone

To complement the hardware, Apple announced Final Cut Camera 2.0, a free update that enables iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max to record in ProRes RAW, synchronize with other devices via genlock, and use open-gate recording for wider fields of view. The update supports the new Center Stage front camera for more creative control.

Sustainability goals remain in focus

Apple highlighted its Apple 2030 plan to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire supply chain and product lifecycle by the end of the decade. The new iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods include higher percentages of recycled aluminum, cobalt, and titanium, alongside fiber-based packaging.
