A new livelihood program for persons with disabilities and a nationwide search for long-lasting home appliances were recently launched in the Philippines, highlighting efforts to promote inclusive employment and product durability in the consumer electronics sector.

The “Push Laundry” project, a social enterprise aimed at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs), was introduced in Cubao, Quezon City, through a partnership involving House with No Steps Foundation (HWNSF), ELS, BigZe Corp., and LG Electronics Philippines.

The initiative converts a renovated HWNSF building into a commercial laundry facility that will employ PWDs while generating income to support training, employment and development programs.

The program is designed to demonstrate how inclusive business models can combine commercial viability with social impact. Laundry earnings will help fund PWD employment and related programs while maintaining the facility’s operations.

“LG Electronics Philippines is proud to support initiatives that create meaningful livelihood opportunities for the PWD community,” said Nakhyun Seung, managing director of LG Electronics Philippines. “Through our LG Commercial Laundry solutions, we are able to contribute to a business model that promotes inclusivity while ensuring reliable and efficient daily operations.”

Under the collaboration, HWNSF advocates for and supports persons with disabilities, ELS provides the business framework, BigZe manages daily operations, and LG supplies commercial laundry equipment to support the facility’s operations.

Partners said the model could be replicated by other dealers and organizations interested in establishing similar livelihood programs.

Separate from the livelihood initiative, LG Electronics Philippines also launched a nationwide search for the country’s oldest still-working residential air conditioner.

The “LG Oldest Air Conditioner Hunt Promo” runs from Jan. 22 to March 31, 2026, and invites Filipino households to share stories of long-running air conditioners through video submissions posted on social media.

Participants must show a functioning unit with a visible serial or model number, upload the video publicly using the hashtag and tag @LGPhilippines, and register their entry online.

“Many Filipino families have relied on LG air conditioners for years, shining proof of the durability and reliability of our products,” said Nakhyun Seong, managing director of LG Electronics Philippines. “This campaign is our way of celebrating those real-life experiences with our air conditioners.”

The contest is open to Philippine residents aged 18 and above. Winners will receive new split-type air conditioners as prizes, including a 1.5-horsepower unit valued at P65,788 for first place, followed by 1-horsepower units valued at P61,588 and P53,188 for second and third place.

Officials said the campaign aims to highlight long-term product use among Filipino households while encouraging consumers to share their experiences with durable home appliances.
