BUSINESS | Shopee AI tools help Pinoy sellers manage customer chats, listings
Shopee’s Chat AI Assistant and Product AI Optimiser are helping micro, small and medium enterprises manage routine tasks such as responding to buyer messages and refining product pages.

Small online sellers in the Philippines are using artificial intelligence tools to handle customer inquiries and improve product listings, as platforms expand automation features for daily operations.
Shopee said its Chat AI Assistant and Product AI Optimiser are helping micro, small and medium enterprises manage routine tasks such as responding to buyer messages and refining product pages.
The tools are being used by sellers like New Earth, a sustainability-focused brand with a six-person team that manages eco-friendly washable paper bags. The company said handling customer inquiries alongside order processing had been a persistent challenge.
“We take turns answering customer inquiries,” said Valerie Pineda, founder of New Earth. “Whenever our admin assistant is busy and cannot reply, I step in and help respond to customers.”
Before adopting automation tools, the team responded to all messages manually, including during peak periods and weekends. This often required shifting focus away from other operational tasks.
Shopee’s Chat AI Assistant now handles routine inquiries such as delivery updates, order status and product availability. Features including FAQ Assistant and Auto Reply allow sellers to automate responses to common questions, helping reduce manual workload and maintain response times.
“It helps us immensely because we don’t have to go through every single message anymore,” Pineda said.
Beyond customer communication, sellers also face challenges in maintaining product listings, including creating images and ensuring accurate information. Shopee’s Product AI Optimiser aims to address these tasks by generating product visuals, recommending cover images based on performance data and guiding buyers on sizing using seller-provided charts.
The platform said these tools are designed to reduce repetitive work and allow sellers to focus on business operations and customer service.
The rollout reflects a broader push among e-commerce platforms to integrate AI-driven features into seller tools, as competition increases and demand for faster, more responsive online services grows.
