vivo has announced that the vivo X Fold5, its newest and most advanced foldable smartphone, will launch in the Philippines this August. This marks the first time the brand is introducing a foldable device in Southeast Asia.
Weighing just 217 grams and measuring only 4.3 millimeters when unfolded, the vivo X Fold5 is the brand’s slimmest and lightest foldable yet. It features a second-generation Armor Architecture with a carbon fiber-supported hinge, built using aerospace-grade steel and embedded carbon fiber components. The hinge is said to be 47.3% tougher than the previous version.
The X Fold5 also brings a new level of durability, claiming the title of the first foldable phone with triple protection ratings — IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ for water resistance, along with IP5X dust protection. The device has been tested to withstand up to 600,000 folds and extreme temperatures as low as -20°C, while maintaining up to 20 hours of voice calls and extended GPS and camera use.
For power users, the device is equipped with a 6000mAh BlueVolt battery that utilizes fourth-generation silicon anode and second-generation semi-solid battery tech to offer extended battery life without adding bulk.
On the imaging front, the X Fold5 sports a ZEISS co-engineered camera system, including a 50MP Super Telephoto lens. vivo’s in-house image processing algorithms enhance detail and color for professional-level results.
The launch of the X Fold5 underscores vivo’s push to make foldables part of the mainstream smartphone lineup. With flagship specs, premium design, and multitasking capabilities, the X Fold5 signals that foldable devices are no longer niche products but essential tools for productivity and creativity.
