The Philippines hosted a major esports-style competition over two days in Manila, drawing thousands of players and fans and setting a new attendance record for the event.

The “2025–26 Philippines Master Ball League” was held April 25–26 at the SMX Convention Center in Manila, with 3,475 total attendees, organizers said. The figure represents a 270% increase from the previous year and marks the highest turnout for a Pokemon competitive event in the country.

Of the total, 1,034 players competed in the main tournament, while 2,441 visitors joined side activities designed for casual participants and newcomers.

Matches were held across multiple divisions, featuring competitive gameplay among local players. Organizers also ran side events, including hands-on sessions for Nintendo Switch 2, Pokemon MEZASTAR activities, and beginner trial programs for the Pokemon Trading Card Game.

Top finishers from each division earned slots in the 2026 Pokemon World Championships, set for August in San Francisco, where they will represent the Philippines.
The event concluded with final matches and an awarding ceremony recognizing top competitors.

Organizers said the tournament reflects continued growth in the Philippines’ Pokemon gaming community and competitive scene.
