To address these challenges, MMDC said it has integrated career readiness and AI literacy into its curriculum, particularly for working students seeking to advance their careers or transition into new fields.

AI, geopolitics, and economic shifts contribute to the ever-changing work landscape

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the global workforce, Mapúa Malayan Digital College (MMDC) is strengthening efforts to prepare Filipino students for emerging careers in technology and business through online degree programs and international academic partnerships.

The move comes as employers face changing skills requirements driven by AI adoption and broader economic shifts. According to Deloitte’s 2026 Human Capital Trends report, 49% of workers reported changes in the nature of their work, while 39% cited changes in required skills. The report warned that workers who fail to adapt risk widening skills gaps and long-term employability challenges.

MMDC also cited data from the World Economic Forum showing that entry-level jobs in the United States have declined to 35% in recent months, a trend attributed largely to AI.

To address these challenges, MMDC said it has integrated career readiness and AI literacy into its curriculum, particularly for working students seeking to advance their careers or transition into new fields.

The institution recently expanded its academic offerings through a collaboration with Arizona State University, giving students access to international academic content, microcredentials, and masterclasses from ASU faculty. MMDC said the partnership aims to expose students to global learning standards and workplace practices.

“MMDC understands that our students’ main goal is to acquire job-ready competencies that can help them secure employment, get promoted, or enter rewarding careers. This collaboration with ASU benefits our students as they will obtain global insights on relevant industries, helping them stand out in the job market,” said Jenny Chua, vice president of MMDC.

MMDC offers degree programs in Business Administration and Information Technology, including AI-focused specializations. Its Business Administration program includes a specialization in AI for Business Strategy and Operations, while its Information Technology program offers an AI-Powered Product Development track.

Other Business Administration specializations include Marketing Management, Operations Management, and Human Resource Management, while the Information Technology program covers Data Analytics, Software Development, and Network and Cybersecurity.

The college said it also uses AI-supported learning tools and plans to make all graduates AI-fluent by 2029 as part of a broader initiative within the Mapúa Education Group.

MMDC said it continues to offer flexible schedules, scholarships, financial aid programs, and certification courses aimed at working students, career shifters, and professionals seeking skills in digital marketing, virtual assistance, data analytics, AI, and English-language training.
