MAYA is applying artificial intelligence (AI) to recruitment, onboarding and employee engagement as the Philippine digital financial services company expands its use of AI across its workforce.

The company said its AI-first, data-first approach is intended to reduce friction in hiring and employee experiences while keeping human judgment and accountability in place.

The approach earned Maya seven recognitions at the 2026 Stevie Awards for Great Employers, including awards for employer branding, AI-assisted recruitment, employee engagement, onboarding and people leadership.

Maya uses AI-assisted search to identify candidates based on relevant skills and experience, while AI-assisted outreach supports more personalized communication with prospective hires. Recruiters and business leaders remain responsible for hiring decisions.

The company has also redesigned its employer branding and onboarding programs. Its employer branding gives candidates a clearer view of roles, expectations and opportunities, while its onboarding program provides structured support from preboarding through integration.

“For us, being AI-first is not about replacing human judgment. It is about using technology to remove friction, make better decisions and help people focus on work that creates value,” said Carla G. Lanza, chief people officer of Maya. “We are applying the same attention to simplicity, relevance and experience that shapes our products to how we build our teams and culture.”

Maya received a Silver Stevie Award for Experience-Driven Employer Branding and Bronze Stevie Awards for Scaling High-Quality Hiring with Embedded AI, Engineering Engagement that Creates a BOLDER Culture, and Designing a Purpose-Driven, End-to-End Onboarding Experience at Scale.

Lanza also received a Silver Stevie Award for Chief Human Resources Officer of the Year. Andrea Agatha Pascual, employee engagement manager, received a Gold Stevie Award for Employee Engagement Professional of the Year, while Rose Ann Belangoy, senior lead for payroll, received a Bronze Stevie Award for Benefits or Payroll Professional of the Year.

More than 160 professionals worldwide participated in judging this year’s awards. Winners in the Employer of the Year categories were determined using ratings from professional judges and more than 178,000 public votes.

Maya said AI is now embedded across its operations, including customer acquisition, personalization and service, credit, fraud prevention, operations and talent. The company said governance, security, human oversight and responsible AI use remain central to its implementation.
