PLDT wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc (Smart) is further expanding its retail availability by teaming up with Shopee Phils. Inc. (Shopee), the fastest growing e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia.

Under the partnership, Smart, TNT, and Sun prepaid subscribers just need to log on the Shopee mobile app, website or mobile site, input their mobile number, choose their preferred load variant, and pay. Customers can pay for their load purchase via debit or credit card, remittance centers, over-the-counter bank transactions, or online payment options.

“Filipinos love to shop online, that is why we believe that this partnership will help us achieve our goal to provide more customers the convenience of reloading their Smart prepaid phones anytime, anywhere with just a tap of a finger,” said Precy Katigbak, vice president and head of National Key Accounts at Smart.

The partnership between Smart and Shopee was also made possible with the support of Uniwiz Trade Sales Inc. (LoadCentral).

“We are happy to be part of the alliance of these two trusted technology brands in the country,” said Jeff Boone, general manager at LoadCentral.

Smart prepaid users can get ₱200 worth of load for just ₱170 when they buy from May 12 to 14. Customers can go to the Shopee homepage and look for the Load and eVouchers icon, or visit  bit.ly/ShopeeLoadW to view the products available from Load Central and Smart. Consumers can also download the Shopee app for free via the App Store or Google Play.

Shopee is an e-commerce platform headquartered in Singapore under Sea Group, which was founded in 2009 by Forrest Li. Shopee first launched in Singapore in 2015, and since expanded its reach to Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. It serves users in Southeast Asia and Taiwan to buy and sell products online.

“We are excited to team up with one of the leading telecommunication providers in the Philippines, Smart Communications, and to let our users reload their prepaid phones directly on Shopee. Filipinos are among the most engaged mobile users in the world and we are delighted to once again cater to their needs with this partnership. We look forward to more collaborations with Smart as we continue to strengthen our position as the online shopping destination of choice in the Philippines,” said Martin Yu, associate director at Shopee Philippines.

This partnership is the latest in a series of engagements made by Smart to widen its reach and make its services more accessible to its millions of subscribers.
