MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Google Station is now available in more than 400 sites across the country, five months after Google announced its fast, free and open public Wi-Fi in the Philippines in partnership with Smart.

Google Station was initially available in 50 sites including airports in Manila, Clark, and Davao; LRT 2 and MRT 3 stations, and select universities in the provinces, as part of Google’s Next Billion Users initiative to connect Filipinos to more opportunities through reliable internet access.

Since its launch, Google Station has seen an average of one million monthly active users with people connecting to the internet for an average of 22 minutes per session several times a day.

“We remain committed to serving the Filipino community with fast, free and open Wi-Fi so more people can join the millions of Filipinos already using Google Station,” said K Suri, director for Next Billion Users for Southeast Asia. “This is just the beginning. With our partnership with Smart, we aim to set up Google Station in more locations nationwide so Filipinos can connect to opportunities and benefit from the growing digital economy.”
