PLDT Inc. offers additional assistance to customers in Visayas and Mindanao who are affected by the repair of facilities damaged by Super Typhoon Odette, and these copper lines’ subsequent migration or upgrade to fiber.

These include continued automatic bill rebates, provision of Prepaid Home WiFi devices with pre-loaded 10GB valid for seven days for Home customers, and free 30GB mobile data valid for 30 days for Home customers with Smart/TNT lines. Qualified customers for the additional assistance will be notified via SMS.

PLDT’s appeasement program is part of the group’s efforts to assure customers of its continued assistance following the onslaught of Odette. PLDT personnel have been working round-the-clock, expediting restoration in badly hit areas.

Once migrated to fiber, these PLDT connections are also expected to deliver a better quality of service to customers, because fiber offers the best and most reliable connectivity that’s commercially available.

Since Odette hit Visayas and Mindanao, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have been supporting affected communities through communications aid in the form of free calls and texts, WiFi access, charging stations, as well as through distribution of relief aid.

These efforts help create a #SafeandSmart Philippines by championing initiatives that promote a culture of preparedness, providing immediate response through network resilience, continuous availability of communication services, and relief assistance to communities affected by disasters, and aid in recovery. Altogether, they underscore PLDT and Smart’s thrust to help the Philippines attain the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG # 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities.
