PLDT has rolled out its fiber-to-the- home services at the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), bringing the fastest fiber internet connectivity to the “largest resort city” in the country, known for its beautiful beaches and stunning vistas.

With a growing population and a thriving tourism industry, the local government of IGACOS welcomed this development. “The arrival of PLDT fiber in IGACOS will be beneficial to both residents and tourists. This is also very timely. We really need the internet connection at our new city hall and for the local college we are running,” said Nieljun Esdrelon, IGACOS city administrator .

“We are thrilled with the launching of PLDT Home Fiber in the Island Garden City of Samal. This marks a momentous occasion, as we bring fast and reliable internet connectivity to the island–enabling entertainment needs of residents and tourists alike, and powering hybrid workplaces,” said George Carmelo Clemente, Vismin head for PLDT Home Sales.

PLDT and Smart’s continuous efforts to expand and enhance their integrated fixed and mobile networks are aligned with the Group’s commitment to the government’s overall digitalization thrust to narrow the digital divide, as one of the founding members of the government-mandated Presidential Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) under the Digital Infrastructure Pillar. PLDT’s rollout of fiber in the island is also expected to boost Smart’s mobile network services in the area, as well as support the connectivity needs of businesses and enterprises of all sizes on the island.

These also boost PLDT’s aspirational multi-year transformation, with elevating customer experience as one of the key priorities and contribute to the Group’s endeavors to bring the benefits of the internet to more communities while integrating sustainable solutions in the Group’s daily operations.

PLDT’s relentless push to provide connectivity for all is aligned with the group’s long-standing commitment to help the Philippines attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) particularly SDG No. 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
