HONOR is back with a new flagship, and after getting some brief hands-on time with the Magic7 Pro during its launch in Manila, it’s clear the brand is aiming squarely at mobile photography enthusiasts and power users. Priced at P59,999, the Magic7 Pro brings a blend of high-end camera specs, AI enhancements, and a sleek design that doesn’t stray far from the premium category. But is it just another big-spec smartphone, or does it bring something fresh?
The standout feature is the AI Super Zoom, anchored by a 200MP telephoto camera, alongside a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. In a quick demo, the zoom felt responsive and handled detail well even under mixed lighting. Close-up shots from a distance retained clarity, and AI-assisted stabilization seemed to help manage shake and blur. If mobile photography is a priority, the Magic7 Pro’s camera array makes a strong early impression.
On the software side, HONOR packs in a bunch of AI-based features beyond imaging. From AI-assisted translation and privacy tools to an AI eraser and outpainting function for photos, the OS shows hints of being more than just a UI skin. There’s even something called Magic Portal, which appears to be a gesture-based interaction system, though its full utility needs more time to explore.
Powering all this is a Snapdragon 8 Gen-class chip and a beefy 5850mAh battery. Paired with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, the phone promises to keep up with heavy users without parking next to a wall outlet all day. HONOR also includes its E2 Enhanced Chip for more efficient power management, but battery endurance will need long-term testing.
Performance during the demo felt smooth, with apps opening quickly and multitasking handled with ease. The phone runs cool under typical use, although we didn’t get the chance to stress it with gaming or extended video capture. With 24GB of RAM (12GB plus 12GB virtual) and 512GB of storage, it’s clearly built for users who demand space and responsiveness.
The design leans into a premium look with curved edges and a matte finish available in Lunar Shadow Gray and Black. It feels solid in hand without being too bulky. With an IP68 rating, a scratch-resistant nano crystal shield, and a five-star drop resistance rating from SGS, durability is a key pitch here—though again, time will tell how well that holds up in real-world scenarios.
Security features include dual-biometric unlocking and 3D face recognition, and the display boasts an AI-powered natural light filter that supposedly eases eye strain over longer sessions.
While we’ll reserve final judgment for a full review, the HONOR Magic7 Pro shows promise as a feature-rich flagship aimed at serious content creators and tech-forward users. Its combination of camera hardware, AI enhancements, and solid power specs make it one to watch in a very crowded market.
