A global provider of digital infrastructure, has completed its acquisition of three data centers in Manila from technology solutions provider Total Information Management (TIM). The move strengthens Equinix’s presence in Southeast Asia and positions it to meet growing demand for high-performance digital services in the Philippines.
The acquisition by Equinix Inc. comes as the country’s digital economy continues to grow, reaching $45 billion (P2.5 trillion) in 2024 and accounting for 8.5 percent of the national GDP. That growth is driven by increased digital transactions, expanding cloud adoption, and government-backed initiatives such as the National Broadband Plan and the Digital Philippines Campaign.
The newly acquired facilities—MN1, MN2, and MN3—are carrier-neutral and offer more than 1,000 cabinets of capacity, including expansion-ready land. MN2, the newest site, offers 500 cabinets. These facilities also host leading network providers and four major internet exchanges (IXs) in Manila, providing broad connectivity options for local and global enterprises.
“With this expansion, we are fostering interconnection and enabling our customers and partners to scale seamlessly and securely within one of the region’s most dynamic digital economies,” said Cyrus Adaggra, president of Equinix Asia-Pacific. “We’re expanding our digital platform while supporting the growth of AI technologies and aligning with the Philippine government’s digital ambitions.”
Equinix’s strategic partnerships with AI leaders such as NVIDIA and HPE will allow local businesses to tap into global networks and innovation hubs. More than 10,000 companies worldwide are already connected through Equinix’s digital ecosystems.
The company’s entry into the Philippine market builds on its existing presence in Southeast Asia, where it operates data centers in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, with plans to expand in Thailand. Equinix now operates more than 270 data centers across 75 metropolitan areas in 35 countries, including 63 data centers in 17 cities across Asia-Pacific.
ASEAN remains a key region for digital infrastructure growth, attracting \$230 billion in foreign direct investment in 2023 despite a global downturn. Equinix aims to leverage this momentum to serve enterprises and cloud providers seeking to build or scale their operations in the region.
