FUJIFILM Business Innovation announced plans to establish a Circular Manufacturing Center (CMC) at FUJIFILM Optics Philippines Inc. (FOPH) in Laguna, Philippines, to advance sustainability and resource recycling in the Asia-Pacific region. Operations are scheduled to start in August 2026.

The CMC will focus on producing remanufactured multi-function printers collected from around the region. At the center, used printers will be disassembled, inspected, cleaned, and refurbished, achieving a parts reuse rate of up to 84% by weight. Each printer will undergo rigorous quality checks, matching standards of brand-new units, and will be assigned new product information including manufacturing date, product name, and serial number.

FOPH’s existing expertise in assembling precision imaging equipment, such as interchangeable camera lenses, positions it well to manage the high-precision processes required for remanufacturing. Skilled personnel trained by FUJIFILM Business Innovation will lead these operations, transferring knowledge from established remanufacturing facilities in Japan to the Philippines.

The location of the Philippines, strategically placed in the Asia-Pacific region, offers logistical and supply-chain advantages, significantly influencing the decision to set up the CMC. Production at the center will initially concentrate on the ApeosPort-VII A3 color multifunction printer, a model previously recognized for excellence, as FUJIFILM aims to enhance efficiency and support the circular economy.

FUJIFILM Business Innovation has a longstanding commitment to sustainability, dating back to its recycling initiatives that began in 1995. The company has since expanded globally, establishing similar recycling facilities in China (2008) and the Netherlands (2024).

“With the establishment of CMC in the Philippines, FUJIFILM Business Innovation accelerates strengthening our global production system, promoting resource circulation, and reducing natural resource consumption and CO2 emissions,” said Mutsuki Tomono, executive advisor for ESG and Corporate Sustainability. “We aim to contribute actively to a sustainable society by expanding environmental initiatives across regions.”
