VITRO Inc. and BBIX Philippines Inc. have established a direct peering connection between the BBIX network and the VITRO Internet Exchange (VIX), a move aimed at improving internet traffic exchange and digital connectivity in the Philippines.

The partnership includes an initial 100-gigabit network-to-network interconnection deployed at VITRO Makati 2. The companies said the platform is designed to support growing traffic demand while improving routing efficiency, reducing latency, and enhancing access to digital services.

Through the arrangement, enterprises connected to both BBIX and VIX are expected to gain more efficient access to content, cloud services, and other digital resources. VIX contributes a local ecosystem of enterprises, telecommunications carriers, and hyperscalers hosted in VITRO’s carrier-neutral data centers, while BBIX brings a global network of cloud providers, content platforms, content delivery networks, and technology service providers.

The companies said the direct interconnection will help optimize traffic routes and improve access to both local and international content, strengthening the efficiency of the country’s internet infrastructure.

“Through this direct peering partnership with BBIX, we are enriching the country’s digital ecosystem in a way that delivers more seamless and responsive online experiences for Filipinos,” said Gary F. Ignacio, chief commercial officer of VITRO Inc.

“By strengthening how traffic is exchanged between networks, we are improving access to content, enhancing performance, and enabling businesses and communities to better participate in the digital economy.”

BBIX Philippines General Manager Toya Oba said the partnership aligns with the company’s goal of improving connectivity across the country.

“Our goal is to bring the power of the internet closer to every Filipino,” Oba said. “Through our direct peering with VITRO IX, we are able to deliver more efficient and reliable connectivity that supports the growing demand for digital services in the country.”

The companies said they will continue expanding internet exchange infrastructure as demand for data, cloud services, and digital content increases.
