PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications have deployed an artificial intelligence-powered emergency preparedness platform that helps employees and their families create personalized disaster readiness plans before emergencies occur.
Called Emergency Vital Essentials (EVE), the AI-based platform generates customized preparedness recommendations based on an employee’s household profile, including medical conditions, mobility requirements, dietary needs, and other factors that may require special attention during disasters.
The platform also identifies location-specific risks, conducts AI-driven emergency scenario simulations, and provides home safety assessments to help employees improve their emergency preparedness plans.
“Preparedness should not begin only when emergencies happen. It starts long before that, with awareness, planning, and making sure our people have the right tools to protect their families,” said Leo A. Gonzales, vice president and head of Property, Facilities, and Asset Resiliency Management at PLDT and Smart.
“By using AI, we can provide more personalized guidance and help our employees prepare for situations that may affect what matters most to them,” Gonzales added.
According to the company, the platform also guides users in identifying disaster risks, finding reliable information sources, and developing family communication and reunification plans for emergencies.
EVE complements Handa, PLDT and Smart’s in-house mobile application that monitors employee locations and safety during natural disasters and other emergency situations. While Handa supports response efforts during incidents, EVE focuses on preparedness before disasters occur.
The initiative is part of the company’s broader disaster resilience program, which uses digital technologies to strengthen workforce readiness and emergency response capabilities.
