GADGETS | Huawei MatePad Air now available in Philippines
The HUAWEI MatePad Air became available online and in stores on Sept. 18 at P59,999, reduced from P64,999. The tablet comes with 12GB of physical RAM and 256GB of storage, plus 8GB of virtual memory.
Huawei has started selling the MatePad Air in the Philippines, with the 12-inch tablet combining a 2.8K OLED display, AI-assisted productivity tools and PC-oriented accessories in a 5.3-millimeter, 509-gram design.
The HUAWEI MatePad Air became available online and in stores on Sept. 18 at P59,999, reduced from P64,999. The tablet comes with 12GB of physical RAM and 256GB of storage, plus 8GB of virtual memory.
The device has a 12-inch 2.8K OLED PaperMatte Display with a 4.69mm bezel and peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits. Huawei said the PaperMatte surface is designed to reduce glare and reflections and provide a paper-like feel for writing, reading and sketching.
For productivity, the tablet supports PC-level WPS Office and WPS AI, which can summarize documents, refine drafts and generate presentation materials. HUAWEI Notes supports speech-to-text transcription, with handwritten annotations and highlights synchronized with recorded conversations.
The tablet also supports GoPaint, Huawei’s drawing and illustration application, with AI-assisted tools for creative work.
A Smart Magnetic Keyboard provides a PC-like setup, while the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro supports handwriting and drawing, along with gestures such as pinch, double-tap and rotation. The stylus also has an Air Mouse function that can be used to navigate presentation slides and act as a laser pointer.
Huawei said the keyboard and M-Pencil Pro are part of the bundled 4-in-1 setup included with the tablet.
The MatePad Air has a 10,100mAh battery rated for up to 18 hours of HDR video playback. It supports 66-watt HUAWEI SuperCharge Turbo, with the company claiming a charging time of as fast as 30 minutes.
The tablet also uses a 3D heat dissipation architecture for thermal management.
The Philippine launch package includes vouchers worth P6,500 on the HUAWEI Online Store and P5,000 on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok. The freebie bundle, valued at up to P33,886, includes a Smart Magnetic Keyboard, M-Pencil Pro, PC-Level WPS Office, a one-year WPS AI membership, Bluetooth mouse and bag.
