Global cybersecurity provider Sophos has rolled out a series of new services aimed at strengthening organizational defenses against today’s most advanced cyber threats. The launch includes Sophos Advisory Services, new Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) capabilities, and expanded Security Operations (SecOps) offerings under its managed detection and response (MDR) portfolio.

Proactive security through advisory services

Sophos has introduced Advisory Services, a suite of penetration testing and application security assessments designed to identify and fix vulnerabilities before cybercriminals exploit them. The offerings include external, internal, and wireless network penetration testing, as well as web application security evaluations—all powered by intelligence from Sophos X-Ops.

“Adversaries are increasingly skilled at exploiting the smallest cracks in an organization’s security program,” said Jake Dorval, senior director of Sophos Advisory Services. “With Sophos Advisory Services, we give customers a proactive advantage—helping them find and fix weaknesses before attackers can exploit them.”

The services are handled by a team of cybersecurity experts with diverse backgrounds in threat intelligence, research, law enforcement, and the military. Many joined Sophos through its acquisition of Secureworks, enhancing its talent pool. The company plans to expand its Advisory Services portfolio in the coming months.

Extending defense to identity with ITDR

In addition to the advisory offerings, Sophos has integrated Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) into its MDR platform. ITDR focuses on identity-based threats, providing unified visibility across authentication systems and detecting unauthorized access attempts and credential abuse—one of the most common causes of ransomware and data breaches.

According to the Sophos State of Ransomware 2025 Report, 65 percent of organizations worldwide cited known or unknown security gaps as a leading cause of ransomware incidents. ITDR aims to close these identity-related vulnerabilities through real-time monitoring, privilege escalation detection, and active directory analysis.

Strengthening global SecOps momentum

Sophos also highlighted growing adoption of its Security Operations (SecOps) solutions, led by its MDR service, now used by more than 21,000 organizations globally. The company’s SecOps framework uses AI-driven threat detection, telemetry analysis, and expert-led investigations through Sophos X-Ops to help organizations shift from reactive to proactive defense.

This global growth underscores a broader industry movement toward integrated, expert-driven security operations capable of preventing, detecting, and responding to threats across hybrid and cloud environments.

By bringing together identity protection, managed detection, and human-led advisory expertise, Sophos aims to provide organizations with comprehensive coverage across the entire attack lifecycle—from prevention and exposure management to rapid incident response.
