The company showcased SmartSafe, the first telco-powered anti-fraud application programming interface suite in the country aligned with GSMA Open Gateway standards.

PLDT Enterprise placed digital trust at the center of discussions at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit 2025, highlighting how secure, interoperable technologies can support the Philippines’ shift toward a more connected digital economy.
The company showcased SmartSafe, the first telco-powered anti-fraud application programming interface suite in the country aligned with GSMA Open Gateway standards. Led by PLDT Senior Vice President and Enterprise Business Group Head Blums Pineda, the delegation joined regional telcos, tech players and policymakers to explore how open APIs and industry partnerships can accelerate nationwide digital transformation.
“We believe that progress will require the collective strength of our ecosystem. Our vision is a connected Philippines powered by collaboration,” Pineda said.
In a panel discussion on digital growth, PLDT First Vice President and Enterprise Product Management and Innovations Head Nico Alcoseba explained how API-driven services enable smarter integrations and customer value. He cited SmartSafe as an example of how telco-grade signals and authentication tools can strengthen digital trust.
During a fintech roundtable, PLDT Enterprise Senior Manager for Innovations and Product Development Mickey Ruiz discussed how telco-enabled APIs can enhance security across the financial services sector. Meanwhile, PLDT and Smart Network Strategy Head Eric Santiago and Strategic Business Development Head Gio Abaquin underscored the role of reliable connectivity — particularly mobile private networks and emerging technologies — in driving industry-wide digitalization.
PLDT and Smart Assistant Vice President for Stakeholder Management Stephanie Orlino added that the company’s eBizNovation initiative continues to build digital skills among micro, small and medium enterprises, helping MSMEs expand their reach and competitiveness.
A partnership signing with Germany-based apoQlar formalized the entry of HoloMedicine, a mixed reality solution powered by Smart 5G, into the Philippine healthcare landscape. The platform allows medical professionals to visualize diagnostic images and patient data in real time without complex hospital IT integration.

PLDT and Smart equip MSMEs at DSWD NCR’s “Sustainable LiveliTalks: Master Class”
PLDT and Smart supported the Department of Social Welfare and Development–National Capital Region’s “Sustainable LiveliTalks: Master Class,” which forms part of the agency’s Sustainable Livelihood Program for income-generating communities.
The session featured the eBizNovation program, which teaches MSMEs how to use social media, livestreaming and online marketplaces to grow revenue and participate in the digital economy. Stakeholder Engagement AVP Stephanie Orlino said digital inclusion is central to enabling entrepreneurs to thrive.
One of the key resource speakers was Abbie Ricohermoso, owner of Josefina’s Homemade Food, who started with a small eatery before transitioning to online sales of bottled Filipino dishes. With support from the Department of Trade and Industry, PLDT, Smart and TikTok Shop, she expanded her market reach, created jobs and earned recognition abroad.
Participants also heard about the growing importance of cybersecurity for small businesses. PLDT and Smart conducted a #BeCyberSmart session that warned entrepreneurs about phishing links, fraudulent messages and suspicious online activities. Attendees were reminded to report harmful content to service providers and authorities.
The initiative supports PLDT Group’s broader push for digital inclusion and resilient community-based enterprises.
PLDT and Smart promote cyber awareness at COCONUTPhilippines Trade Fair 2025
At the inaugural COCONUTPhilippines Trade Fair 2025, PLDT and Smart focused on boosting the digital resilience of coconut farmers and MSMEs — a sector critical to agricultural exports but still among the country’s most economically vulnerable communities.
Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippine Coconut Authority and the Coconut Farmers Industry and Development Plan, the fair included PLDT’s “Maging CyberSmart Against Online Scams” training under the eBizNovation program.
First Vice President for Public Engagement and Corporate Communications Jose Roberto A. Alampay said PLDT and Smart continue to work with government agencies to advance technology adoption across rural communities. He noted that responsible digital practices are key to safeguarding entrepreneurs as they enter online markets.
The trade fair also hosted DTI’s “Asenso Talks sa CTF,” a venue for discussions on innovation, industry trends and sustainable livelihood models.
The initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 on promoting peace, justice and strong institutions by encouraging secure digital environments for grassroots enterprises.
