PC HARDWARE | AI PC adoption rises as firms prepare for agentic AI
The findings reflect a growing shift toward AI systems that can process workloads closer to the endpoint, enabling real-time and context-aware computing while reducing latency and improving security.

Enterprise adoption of AI-powered PCs is accelerating as companies prepare for wider deployment of agentic artificial intelligence systems capable of autonomously performing tasks and adapting workflows in real time, according to a new IDC white paper sponsored by AMD.
The study found that more than 80% of organizations surveyed have either deployed, piloted or are planning near-term adoption of AI PCs as businesses move beyond experimental AI projects toward enterprise-wide implementation.
IDC surveyed more than 500 IT and business decision-makers from the United States, Japan, France, the United Kingdom and Germany. The report said 70% of organizations expect agentic AI systems to influence employee workflows within the next two years.
The findings reflect a growing shift toward AI systems that can process workloads closer to the endpoint, enabling real-time and context-aware computing while reducing latency and improving security.
Among the organizations surveyed, 61% said they are already integrating AI directly into workflows, while 59% identified high-performance neural processing units (NPUs) as critical for enabling next-generation AI experiences.
The report also found that 70% of respondents experienced faster performance and reduced latency with AI PCs, while 66% reported increased employee productivity. Another 58% cited improved data security from on-device AI processing as a key advantage.
AMD said the growing use of agentic AI is changing the role of PCs from standard productivity devices into platforms for real-time AI interaction and local processing.
The company added that demand is increasing for systems capable of supporting context-aware AI workloads directly on endpoint devices.
AMD also highlighted its Ryzen AI PRO processors and AMD PRO platforms, which the company said are designed to support enterprise AI deployments with built-in security and manageability features compatible with existing IT systems.
According to the report, organizations investing in AI-ready systems are positioning themselves for the next phase of enterprise AI adoption as businesses continue integrating AI into daily operations.
