TELECOM | PLDT Enterprise backs Alfamart expansion with Smart connectivity
Under the partnership, PLDT Enterprise provides Smart Postpaid Plans to Alfamart employees to support mobile communication and operational coordination across its network of stores.
PLDT Enterprise is supporting the nationwide expansion of Alfamart Trading Philippines Inc. through mobile connectivity services powered by Smart Communications Inc.
Alfamart, the minimart chain under the SM Group, said it now operates 2,494 stores across the country and plans to open at least 400 new branches annually. The company said reliable communication systems are needed to support coordination between its stores and office-based teams as it expands operations nationwide.
Under the partnership, PLDT Enterprise provides Smart Postpaid Plans to Alfamart employees to support mobile communication and operational coordination across its network of stores.
Victor Genuino, head of Key Industries Group at PLDT Enterprise and president and chief executive officer of ePLDT and VITRO Inc., said reliable connectivity is important for retail operations, particularly for companies expanding their store footprint.
“Retail operations depend on consistent and reliable connectivity, especially as store networks continue to grow,” Genuino said.
The partnership between Alfamart and PLDT Enterprise began in 2020 when the retailer transitioned to Smart services. The companies recently renewed the agreement for a third term covering postpaid mobile requirements for both store-based and office-based personnel.
Harvey Ong, chief operating officer of Alfamart Trading Philippines Inc., said the partnership continues to support the company’s nationwide growth plans.
“As Alfamart grows its store network across the country, having a reliable telecommunications partner is essential,” Ong said.
PLDT Enterprise said the collaboration forms part of its efforts to support large-scale retail operations through telecommunications and digital services.
