COMMUNITY | PLDT, Parañaque hold MSME digitalization workshops
Participants attended the PLDT and Smart #BeCyberSmart module, which aimed to help entrepreneurs strengthen online security while growing their digital presence.
Small businesses in Parañaque City received training on digital tools, cybersecurity and online marketing during MSME Day activities organized by PLDT and Smart Communications.
The event gathered local entrepreneurs, startup founders and business owners seeking to expand their operations through digital platforms. Sessions focused on cybersecurity awareness, financial literacy, business messaging tools and social media marketing strategies.
Participants attended the PLDT and Smart #BeCyberSmart module, which aimed to help entrepreneurs strengthen online security while growing their digital presence. Discussions also included messaging solutions such as the Tanay App and application-to-person messaging, along with practical content creation techniques using short-form video platforms.
The activity was supported by the local government led by Edwin Olivarez, together with representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Parañaque chapter.
“Today, we are celebrating MSME Day here in Parañaque and across the entire country, honoring the entrepreneurs who serve as the true heart and engine of our local economy,” Olivarez said.
John Eric “Chet” Alviz, vice president and head of SME Growth Marketing, Digital and Trade at PLDT Enterprise, said digital technologies have become necessary for small businesses to remain competitive and protect operations.
Stephanie V. Orlino, assistant vice president and head of Stakeholder Management at PLDT and Smart, said collaboration with local government units helps businesses adopt digital tools and improve cybersecurity awareness.
Catherine Joy Cardano, CEO and co-founder of AirLiving Plus Real Estate Management Service, said the workshop provided practical lessons on social media visibility and online protection for businesses.
