Green SM has launched its all-electric taxi service, Green SM Limo, in New Delhi, marking the company’s entry into India and expanding its operations to a fifth market after Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The launch was held on June 5, World Environment Day, and was attended by Indian government officials, representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in India, and partners from the automotive, transportation, energy, finance, technology and infrastructure sectors.

Green SM said it will initially deploy the service across key areas of the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) before expanding operations in phases to meet growing demand.

The service uses the VinFast Limo Green, a seven-seat electric multipurpose vehicle developed for passenger transport. The vehicles are equipped with amenities such as drinking water and wet wipes, as well as a Secure-to-Safe (S2S) safety system that includes interior and exterior cameras, AI-assisted monitoring technology and emergency support buttons for drivers and passengers.

Drivers undergo training in electric vehicle operation, road safety and customer service, according to the company.

Green SM also announced that five companies from the transportation, tourism, technology and services sectors have joined Green Alliance Frontier, an initiative designed to connect businesses pursuing sustainability goals and green innovation.

Customers can book rides through the Green SM mobile application, via hotline, or by hailing vehicles in service areas. To mark the launch, the company is offering a 50% discount of up to 250 Indian rupees on bookings made through the app.

Nguyen Van Thanh, Global CEO of GSM, said the company views India as a key market for electric mobility.

“India is one of the most important mobility markets in the world. Its scale, rapid growth and strong spirit of innovation are creating significant opportunities for the future of green transportation. We come to India with respect for the market, confidence in its long-term potential and a commitment to working alongside local partners,” Thanh said.

Founded in Vietnam in 2023, Green SM now operates electric mobility services in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines and India.
