The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and Maya have partnered to introduce digital payment options for government services used by overseas Filipinos and their families, as part of efforts to modernize public service delivery.

Under the agreement, Filipinos overseas and their families will be able to pay for CFO services through digital channels, including cards, QR payments and digital wallets. The initiative is intended to make transactions more accessible and convenient while reducing processing friction.

The CFO serves non-resident Filipinos, including permanent migrants, dual citizens, Filipino spouses and partners of foreign nationals, and their descendants. The agency works to maintain links between overseas Filipinos and the Philippines and encourage their participation in national development.

“More than six million non-resident Filipinos around the world belong to the Commission’s constituency. Through our programs and services, we seek to help them maintain strong ties with the Philippines and encourage their continued participation in national development,” CFO Secretary Dante “Klink” Ang II said.

He said the partnership would help make CFO services more efficient, accessible and convenient while creating opportunities to further engage overseas Filipinos in national development.

The partnership forms part of the CFO’s broader digitalization program, which aims to expand digital and cashless transactions across its operations.

“By supporting the CFO’s digitalization efforts, we are helping make transactions simpler and more convenient for Filipinos overseas and their families. This supports the government’s ease of doing business agenda while connecting people to digital financial tools that can improve financial health,” said Shailesh Baidwan, group president of Maya and co-founder of Maya Bank.

Maya said the project is part of its work providing digital payment infrastructure for government agencies and public sector institutions. The company added that it continues to expand financial services for overseas Filipinos and their families, including programs tied to remittances and digital transactions.
