PIMS 2026 | BAIC debuts at auto show with new hybrid SUV

BAIC Philippines made its debut at the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) 2026, unveiling a new plug-in hybrid sport utility vehicle and outlining its plans to expand its presence in the country’s growing market for electrified vehicles.
The Chinese automotive brand showcased the BAIC B40e Trailmaster rEV, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with a combined driving range of up to 1,200 kilometers, during the four-day event at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. The model is designed for both daily driving and long-distance travel.
The event also served as the launch venue for BAIC Philippines’ “Drive Big with BAIC” campaign, which highlights the company’s focus on utility, technology, and vehicle capability.
“Here in the Philippines, we see drivers who want a vehicle that can do more. Something that handles the daily commute but is just as ready when the weekend or a long drive out of town calls,” said Timothy Sytin, BAIC Philippines brand head.
“That’s what we’re building toward, and we believe the future belongs to New Energy SUVs.”
Founded in 1958, BAIC has grown into one of China’s largest automotive manufacturers and has expanded into overseas markets as the industry shifts toward electrified mobility.
Sytin said customer support remains a key part of the company’s local operations.
“When our customers feel taken care of, they’re happy to introduce us to the people around them, and that means everything to us,” he said.
BAIC also introduced new brand ambassadors during the event, including Kobe Paras, Andre Paras, and Benjie Paras. The company said the ambassadors represent different lifestyles and driving experiences that align with its campaign.
The company displayed several models from its Philippine lineup, including the B30e Dune Hybrid Off-Roader, B40 Pro TrailMaster, B60 Beaumont diesel hybrid SUV, B60e Beaumont rEV, B80 Wagon luxury SUV, and X55 Verve crossover.
PIMS 2026 ran from June 4 to 7 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
