COMMUNITY | Maya joins THINKaMuna Council against financial scams

Maya has joined the THINKaMuna Pilipinas Council as part of efforts to strengthen scam awareness, fraud prevention, and digital literacy among Filipinos amid the growing use of digital financial services.

The collaboration between Maya and MediaQuest will develop educational content and community-based programs focused on helping Filipinos identify online scams, avoid fraud, and engage more responsibly in digital spaces.

The partnership expands the scope of THINKaMuna Pilipinas, a media and information literacy campaign launched by MediaQuest in 2024 that encourages Filipinos to pause, verify information, and think critically before acting online.

With Maya joining the council, the initiative will also promote safer digital financial habits and greater awareness of financial scams as online transactions become more common.

“Media literacy is no longer just about distinguishing real news from fake news; it is our critical shield for everyday survival,” said Ricky Vargas, president and CEO of MediaQuest.

“Partnering with Maya allows us to extend the THINKaMuna philosophy directly to millions of Filipinos who need to be protected from financial scams. Before you click, share, or transact online, we want every Filipino to pause, verify, and protect themselves from these predators,” he added.

MediaQuest and Maya said the collaboration aims to combine media literacy and financial education to help Filipinos become more informed and resilient digital citizens in an increasingly digital environment.
