Before podcasts, social media, smartphones, and the app economy reshaped the digital landscape, Cyber Pinoy was already bringing technology discussions to Filipino audiences over traditional AM radio.

Here’s the full one hour episode:

While looking through my stash of old cassette tapes, I found what could be the only surviving recording of CyberPinoy. This is parts one and two of the one hour weekly radio show on AM radio.

Before podcasts, social media, smartphones, and the app economy reshaped the digital landscape, Cyber Pinoy was already bringing technology discussions to Filipino audiences over traditional AM radio.

Originally aired in the early 2000s on DZRM’s Radyo Magazine and produced with the support of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Cyber Pinoy was hosted by journalists Jing Garcia and Mona Nieva. The weekly program explored the latest developments in information technology, featuring interviews with industry leaders, tech journalists, policymakers, and innovators who helped shape the Philippine ICT sector.

In this rare surviving episode from around 2002, guests included Erwin Lemuel Oliva of Inq7.net and Melvin Calimag of Metropolitan Computer Times. Together, they discussed emerging technology trends, local IT policies, and the state of the Philippine digital industry during a period when internet adoption was still in its early stages.

Listening today offers a fascinating snapshot of a pre-smartphone era—years before Facebook, YouTube, mobile apps, and modern content creation became part of everyday life. Cyber Pinoy stands as an early example of Philippine tech journalism reaching mainstream audiences, documenting the evolution of technology at a time when the country’s digital future was just beginning to take shape.

This digitized recording preserves a unique chapter in Philippine technology media history and serves as a reminder of how far the industry—and the conversations around it—have come.
