TRAVEL | Smart Travē cuts travel eSIM rates by up to 43%
The discounts on the 3GB and 10GB packages amount to 42.5% and 40%, respectively, based on the listed regular prices.
Filipino travelers can get discounted mobile data packages for international trips through Smart Travē, with promotional rates available for the holiday travel season across more than 100 destinations.
The travel eSIM service is offering a 3GB data package for $5.75, down from $10, and a 10GB package for $12, reduced from $20. A 1GB package for lighter data use is also available for $3, according to Smart.
The discounts on the 3GB and 10GB packages amount to 42.5% and 40%, respectively, based on the listed regular prices. Although the press release headline advertises savings of up to 43%, the listed prices do not show an exact 43% discount.
Smart Travē is a travel connectivity app that allows users to purchase and activate an eSIM on compatible devices without obtaining a physical SIM card at their destination. The service is backed by Smart, whose customer hotline travelers can contact for assistance while abroad.
“The holidays are a time when Filipinos look forward to traveling, reconnecting with loved ones, and creating memorable experiences wherever their journeys take them. With Smart Travē, we want travelers to worry less about connectivity and focus on enjoying the journey,” said Albert V. Lloyd R. Manaloto, Smart first vice president and officer in charge, said the service extends the company’s connectivity offering to customers traveling outside the Philippines.
“With Smart Travē, we are extending that same commitment to customers as they travel abroad, giving them access to connectivity across more than 100 destinations,” Manaloto said.
The service is intended to help travelers use mobile data for navigation, ride bookings, transport updates, digital boarding passes, hotel reservations and communication with family and friends.
Users can select their destination and preferred data package through the app, purchase the package and activate the eSIM on a compatible device. The company said this removes the need to look for local physical SIM cards or rely on public Wi-Fi while traveling.
