Toyota Motor Philippines will unveil a new public utility vehicle conversion of its Tamaraw and display its electrified vehicle lineup at two industry events scheduled for Oct. 22-24 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

The company will present the next-generation Tamaraw multipurpose utility vehicle (MPUV) at the first Philippine International Truck Show, while showcasing Toyota and Lexus electric vehicles at the 14th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.

The Tamaraw MPUV, previously previewed at Toyota’s Santa Rosa manufacturing plant, is designed for the public transportation sector. Toyota said the vehicle was developed with the needs of transport operators, local government units and government offices in mind.

“The Tamaraw truly is a blank canvas, taking different forms to help people realize their dreams,” Toyota Motor Philippines President Masando Hashimoto said. He added that the MPUV is intended to serve commuters, transport operators and communities.

Toyota will also display other Tamaraw conversions, including a freezer van, dropside, utility van, food truck and fire truck. The Tamaraw Utility Van and GL Dropside will be available for public test drives during the truck show.

At the electric vehicle summit, Toyota plans to exhibit the bZ4X battery electric vehicle (BEV), Hilux BEV, Zenix hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and Corolla Cross HEV. Lexus models on display will include the ES HEV and RZ BEV.

The company will offer test drives of more than 10 electrified vehicles during the event.

Sherwin Chua-Lim, senior vice president of Toyota Motor Philippines’ Marketing Division, said the company introduced the Toyota Prius locally in 2009 and continues to emphasize the longevity, quality and after-sales support of its electrified vehicles.

The two events will feature vehicles spanning internal combustion engines, hybrid systems and battery-electric powertrains, reflecting the range of options available to Philippine motorists and transport operators.
