India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Monday successfully flight-tested Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV).

NEW DELHI, INDIA — India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Monday successfully flight-tested Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV), officials said.

“In a historic mission today, India successfully flight-tested HSTDV, a giant leap in indigenous defence technologies and significant milestone towards a sashakt bharat (empowered India) and atmanirbhar bharat (self-reliant India),” a brief statement issued by DRDO said.

“DRDO with this mission, has demonstrated capabilities for highly complex technology that will serve as the building block for next generation hypersonic vehicles in partnership with industry.”

Chairman of DRDO Satheesh Reddy congratulated all the scientists, researchers and other personnel related with the HSTDV mission for their resolute and unwavering efforts towards strengthening nation’s defence capabilities.

Meanwhile, India’s federal defense minister Rajnath Singh on social media expressed wishes to DRDO over the successful test.

“The DRDO has today successfully flight tested the HSTDV using the indigenously developed scramjet propulsion system. With this success, all critical technologies are now established to progress to the next phase,” Singh said. “I congratulate to DRDO on this landmark achievement towards realising the prime minister’s vision of atmanirbhar bharat (self-reliant India). I spoke to the scientists associated with the project and congratulated them on this great achievement. India is proud of them.”
