Smart and Shopee are teaming up for Shopee Bayanihan: Pamaskong Pambata for CRIBS Foundation.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Following the campaign’s success for frontliners, leading mobile services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, are teaming up for Shopee Bayanihan: Pamaskong Pambata for CRIBS Foundation.

“We are happy to support this Pamaskong Pambata effort with Shopee, to help the causes of CRIBS Foundation,” said Precy P. Katigbak, first vice president and head of National Key Accounts at PLDT and Smart. “As part of the country’s largest integrated telco PLDT, we have incorporated child-safeguarding policies into our business. These cover various processes and programs for the workplace, marketing activities, product and service offerings, and trade community engagements; that’s why this campaign is very close to our hearts.”

“Shopee is proud to partner with Smart once again, this time for our Shopee Bayanihan: Pamaskong Pambata initiative which aims to support the Filipino youth,” said Martin Yu, director at Shopee Philippines. “Through this partnership, we want to encourage users to make a difference with their donations and uplift people in need. Shopee is committed to empowering and supporting our local communities and will continue to team up with other organizations to create more positive impacts in the Filipino community, especially in this season of giving.”

Smart has made it easier for its customers to access load via online platforms like Shopee. Through these load channels, customers will be able to practice social distancing in the pandemic and conveniently choose the right load package for their mobile data needs with just a tap of a finger.

PLDT and Smart are accelerating their fixed and wireless networks’ rollout to deliver better customer service. PLDT’s fiber infrastructure, the most extensive in the country, is now at 422,000 kilometers.

This fiber infrastructure supports Smart’s mobile network, which now covers 96% of the population. Smart has also increased the number of its base stations to over 58,000, increasing the number of base stations by 20% compared to end-2019. Smart also rolled out an additional 279 5G base stations in the third quarter of 2020 as it accelerates its 5G commercial services nationwide.
