BUSINESS NEWS | Bentley Systems, Enactus launch 2025 iTwin4Good challenge
The competition comes as industry leaders warn of widespread workforce shortages.

Bentley Systems and Enactus have launched the 2025 iTwin4Good Challenge, an international student competition aimed at using digital twin technology to help solve infrastructure challenges and address the growing shortage of skilled workers in the sector.
The competition comes as industry leaders warn of widespread workforce shortages. The American Council of Engineering Companies Research Institute reports that nearly half of U.S. engineering firms are facing project delays of a year or more, while the Associated Builders and Contractors estimates a shortfall of over 400,000 construction workers.
Open to university students in the United States, Germany, Canada, the UK and Ireland, and Brazil, the six-week program encourages participants to develop digital tools that address social or environmental infrastructure needs in their communities. Students can compete individually or in teams of up to three, using Bentley’s iTwin platform to design apps that improve infrastructure outcomes. The program also offers technical training, mentorship, and certification as an iTwin Developer Associate.
National rounds will take place from June through October, with winners advancing to a global “Champions of Champions” round. Finalists will present their projects to industry experts and compete for cash prizes. The overall winner will earn a spot at the Enactus World Cup 2025 in Bangkok.
“The iTwin4Good Challenge is more than a student competition—it’s a catalyst for change and a strategic investment in the future of infrastructure,” said Chris Bradshaw, chief sustainability and education officer at Bentley Systems.
Enactus Global President and CEO George Tsiatis said the initiative reflects the group’s focus on student-led innovation. “When young people combine cutting-edge technology with purpose-driven action, they don’t just solve today’s problems—they build the foundation for a more sustainable future,” he said.
Last year’s challenge drew finalists from Kazakhstan, highlighting the program’s expanding global reach.
