TELECOM | PLDT Home pushes reliable connectivity as remote work demand grows
According to PLDT COO Menardo “Butch” G. Jimenez Jr., reliable internet connectivity has become critical for many Filipinos whose work and income depend on stable online access.

As remote and hybrid work arrangements continue to reshape how Filipinos work, PLDT said it is strengthening its home broadband services to support productivity, digital livelihoods, and work-from-home setups nationwide.
The company said homes have increasingly become extensions of offices, classrooms, and small businesses following the shift brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing economic pressures such as rising fuel costs and inflation.
According to PLDT COO Menardo “Butch” G. Jimenez Jr., reliable internet connectivity has become critical for many Filipinos whose work and income depend on stable online access.
“What began as temporary adjustment has increasingly become a structural change,” Jimenez said, noting that residential connectivity now supports professional-grade activities beyond entertainment and casual internet use.
PLDT said its fiber-led network uses AI-enabled monitoring and intelligent traffic management to help detect issues early, manage peak demand, and improve network resilience.
The company added that it is applying the same reliability standards used for enterprise, financial, and government clients to residential broadband services as more households depend on stable internet for work and education.
PLDT said the growing number of Filipinos working in virtual assistant, freelancing, BPO, and digital services sectors has made internet reliability an economic concern, where service interruptions can lead to lost income and missed opportunities.
“Filipinos are already carrying a heavy load—navigating global uncertainty while continuing to deliver for their employers, clients, schools, and families,” Jimenez said. “Our role is to make sure connectivity is one less thing they have to worry about.”
PLDT Home said it has expanded its work-from-home offerings through dedicated packages, wider fiber access, network upgrades, and hybrid backup connectivity features. The company said these initiatives are aimed at improving digital readiness and supporting productivity regardless of location.
