Zyxel Networks said the growing use of AI tools in workplaces has increased concerns over “shadow AI,” referring to employees using AI applications outside company policies.
Zyxel Networks has launched a new security solution aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) manage risks linked to workplace use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI).
Announced on May 19, the company’s GenAI Protection solution combines enhanced firewall features with cloud-based AI access controls developed in partnership with HEARTBOT AI Inc.. The system is designed to help businesses monitor, regulate and secure employee access to GenAI applications.
Zyxel Networks said the growing use of AI tools in workplaces has increased concerns over “shadow AI,” referring to employees using AI applications outside company policies. The company cited a recent survey showing that 44% of employees have used AI in ways that violate organizational guidelines, raising concerns over data leakage, security breaches and compliance risks.
The solution is integrated into Zyxel’s USG FLEX H series firewall, which now includes application-level controls for GenAI services. Network administrators can block or allow specific AI applications, redirect users to approved services and monitor traffic patterns that may indicate abnormal activity or potential data exposure.
The partnership with HEARTBOT AI also brings support for AnyInsight.ai, a cloud-native platform that provides managed access to multiple large language models, AI agents and AI-connected applications. The platform includes monitoring and policy enforcement tools intended to help organizations oversee AI interactions and protect sensitive data and workflows.

AnyInsight.ai is also available as a standalone licensed service that can be deployed separately from Zyxel’s firewall products.
