BUSINESS TECH | AWS, SAP expand AI, cloud migration tools for enterprises
The announcements were made during SAPPHIRE 2026, where AWS said it is expanding its collaboration with SAP to simplify migration processes and improve enterprise connectivity for SAP workloads in the cloud.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and SAP unveiled new cloud migration and artificial intelligence capabilities aimed at helping enterprises accelerate SAP modernization projects and use enterprise data for AI-driven operations.
The announcements were made during SAPPHIRE 2026, where AWS said it is expanding its collaboration with SAP to simplify migration processes and improve enterprise connectivity for SAP workloads in the cloud.
AWS said updates to the RISE with SAP System Transition Workbench now allow orchestration of AWS native data transfer services directly within SAP migration workflows. The integration is intended to automate parts of file-based migration processes and reduce operational complexity.
The companies also introduced SAP Seamless Private Connectivity using AWS Resource Gateway and Amazon VPC Lattice. AWS said the service enables enterprises to connect existing infrastructure to SAP RISE environments in days instead of weeks while reducing network redesign requirements and IP address conflicts.
AWS said AI tools are also being integrated into SAP modernization workflows. The companies plan to enable AWS AI coding assistants, including Kiro, to work with SAP ABAP Model Context Protocol tools to support code modernization and application development.
SAP Business Data Cloud, GROW and SAP Business Technology Platform services are also expected to expand into additional AWS regions to support regulated industries and latency-sensitive operations.
AWS also announced SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Amazon Athena, which provides bi-directional, zero-copy integration between SAP Business Data Cloud and Amazon Athena. AWS said the service will allow organizations to build analytics dashboards and AI applications using live SAP data without replication delays.
The companies are also planning to integrate Amazon Connect Customer with SAP Service Cloud and SAP Enterprise Service Management to support AI-assisted customer engagement across multiple channels.
AWS said companies are already using SAP data with AWS AI services. Hyundai is using Amazon Quick to manage global operations, while Mercedes-Benz is applying AI-driven insights from SAP data to manufacturing and customer experience operations.
The initiatives are part of the AWS and SAP AI Co-Innovation Program launched during SAPPHIRE 2025. The program works with partners including Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant and Deloitte to help enterprises identify and deploy AI use cases.
