ANIME | Pokémon TCG 30th celebration set launches globally Sept. 16
The set will feature all-foil cards and introduce a new rarity called “Futuristic rare.” The cards will showcase artwork by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN, depicting Pokémon through visuals inspired by themes of the future.
Pokémon fans worldwide will be able to purchase a new commemorative trading card expansion beginning Sept. 16, 2026, as The Pokémon Company International marks the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Called Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration, the expansion will be released simultaneously across participating markets, making it the first Pokémon TCG expansion to receive a coordinated global launch.
The set will feature all-foil cards and introduce a new rarity called “Futuristic rare.” The cards will showcase artwork by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN, depicting Pokémon through visuals inspired by themes of the future.
Each booster pack will contain five foil cards, one foil Basic Energy card, and one Pokémon TCG Live code card. Every pack will also include one of 30 unique foil Pikachu cards, each illustrated by a different artist.
The expansion will additionally feature new cards showing Pokémon during different times of the day and night.
As part of the anniversary release, 30 classic Pokémon cards from previous eras of the game will return with updated foil treatments. The company said these cards will not be legal for play in the Standard format but can be used in formats that allow the original versions.
The Pokémon Trading Card Game, first introduced in 1996, has grown into one of the world’s largest collectible card games, with expansions released regularly across global markets. The 30th Celebration set forms part of broader activities commemorating three decades of the franchise.
The Pokémon Company International has released a preview trailer showcasing cards from the upcoming expansion ahead of its September launch.
