Pokémon fans across Asia will take part in a series of anniversary events as The Pokémon Company marks 30 years since the franchise debuted in Japan in 1996.

The company announced that celebrations will be held in seven Asian markets: the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong. Activities will include Pokémon-themed events, Pokémon GO activities, Pokémon Trading Card Game programs and mall-based campaigns.

The announcement coincides with the launch of the Pokémon Asia 30th Anniversary website, which will serve as a regional information hub for the celebrations. The site is available in English, Traditional Chinese, Thai and Indonesian.

“This celebration is a tribute to everyone who has journeyed with us over the decades. Whether you are a current Trainer or a longtime fan returning to the world of Pokémon, we invite you to join us for this milestone experience,” said Susumu Fukunaga, corporate officer of The Pokémon Company.

“Of course, we’re also thrilled to bring the world of Pokémon to new fans in the Asian region. Therefore, we hope that this event creates a wonderful opportunity for people who are not yet familiar with Pokémon to discover it for the first-time,” he added.

One of the main anniversary activities will be PokéXciting!, a large-scale event series scheduled for five cities. Kuala Lumpur will host the event on Sept. 12-13, followed by Taipei on Oct. 10-11, Singapore on Nov. 7-8, Manila on Jan. 23-24, 2027, and Bangkok on Feb. 13-14, 2027. Each city will feature its own Pokémon-themed activities.

The Pokémon Company said additional details about the celebrations will be announced through the official anniversary website in the coming months.

Pokémon began with the release of Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Green Version for Nintendo’s Game Boy in Japan in 1996. The franchise has since expanded into video games, trading card games, television animation, films, mobile applications and merchandise.
