Consumers learned how to identify online scams, verify information, and practice safer digital habits during Smart Communications Inc.’s Customer Day held at the Smart Store in SM North EDSA Cyberzone.

The event combined customer appreciation activities with digital literacy sessions as Smart expanded its efforts to educate subscribers on cybersecurity, responsible technology use, and safe online transactions.

The company’s SCAMpaign initiative highlighted common online threats and provided guidance on recognizing, avoiding, and reporting scams. Participants also received practical tips on using digital payment platforms safely, protecting financial information, and adopting secure cashless payment practices.

“This initiative reflects Smart’s broader commitment in ensuring that customers are not only connected but also protected and empowered. We hope that through the Smart Customer Day, they can have fun and learn skills that can help them maximize the use of their mobile devices and safely navigate the online world,” said Brenda M. Dichoso, Smart first vice president for Customer Experience.

Content creator and Smart brand ambassador Sam YG also urged consumers to remain vigilant against online scams and misinformation as digital technologies continue to evolve.

“Ang daming scams, fake news, so it’s also good to have these events so that we could properly discuss how to use this privilege, this power properly,” he said. “Inasmuch as we are blessed with technology, it’s very important to be vigilant, to check if what we’ve digested is actually true, or baka fake news or scam. While tech is improving, scams are also improving.”

Visitors also experienced demonstrations of Rokid augmented reality glasses, which showcased potential applications for productivity and collaboration.

Longtime subscriber Jackie Rose Caez said dependable connectivity has supported her family’s work-from-home and online learning needs, while subscriber Jose B. Montalbo Jr. cited network coverage and mobile promos as reasons for remaining with the service.

Smart First Vice President and co-Officer-in-Charge Lloyd R. Manaloto said the company aims to complement connectivity services with programs that help customers become more informed and confident digital users.

The company said it plans to hold additional Smart Customer Day events in other parts of the country as part of its customer engagement and digital literacy initiatives.
