Six Philippine-developed technologies were showcased at the inaugural LEAP East Hong Kong 2026, where local startups presented innovations to an international audience of investors, technology companies, government agencies, and research institutions in a bid to expand into regional and global markets.

Supported by the Department of Science and Technology’s Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) through its Science and Technology Promotion for International Contest and Exhibit (SPICE) Program, the Philippine delegation participated in business matching sessions, networking activities, and technology exhibits designed to generate partnerships, attract investment, and validate market opportunities.

The delegation included DOST-TAPI-assisted startups KoolGear, PasaJob, Pic-A-Talk, CirPro Innovations, and Fullmight Corp., along with I-COUNT, recipient of the Outstanding Sibol Award at the DOST-TAPI National Invention Contest and Exhibition (NICE) 2026. The featured technologies span healthcare, education, sustainability, workforce innovation, and digital transformation.

According to DOST-TAPI, the participation forms part of its efforts to accelerate the internationalization of Philippine innovations by creating opportunities for technology promotion, commercialization, market validation, and strategic partnerships.

Philippine Consul General to Hong Kong Romulo Victor Israel Jr. said international technology events provide opportunities to strengthen the country’s innovation ecosystem and attract foreign investment.

“This is a platform where we can interact with international companies and explore opportunities for our country to develop the innovation industry in the Philippines and to invite more investors to come to the Philippines,” Israel said.

He added that events such as LEAP East Hong Kong 2026 help startups move technologies from incubation to commercialization by connecting them with global networks, potential collaborators, and investors.

DOST-TAPI said participation in international technology exhibitions also enables Filipino innovators to benchmark their technologies against global developments, assess market demand, monitor industry trends, and establish partnerships that support research collaboration, technology transfer, and business growth.
