TELECOM | PLDT urges businesses to make procurement a strategic function
The forum, led and organized by PLDT Global, brought together industry leaders, technology decision-makers and enterprise executives to discuss investment priorities, infrastructure modernization and partnerships amid changes in the digital economy.
Businesses should treat customer experience, strategic investment and supplier partnerships as key drivers of growth as artificial intelligence and digital transformation reshape enterprise operations, PLDT executives said at the inaugural ACC CXO Forum in Hong Kong.
The forum, led and organized by PLDT Global, brought together industry leaders, technology decision-makers and enterprise executives to discuss investment priorities, infrastructure modernization and partnerships amid changes in the digital economy.
Leo I. Posadas, PLDT senior vice president and treasurer and PLDT Global chief financial officer, said businesses are increasingly consolidating previously separate technology relationships as they seek a more integrated approach to customer engagement.
“Customer is king. The way we engage customers has evolved significantly over the years,” Posadas said. “Previously, customers managed separate relationships for connectivity, wireless, cloud, cybersecurity, and digital services. Today, we bring these together through a cohesive approach, creating one customer view, and one integrated conversation.”
Posadas said the shift also requires technology providers to support customers beyond connectivity.
“Going beyond the signal means delivering a full suite of capabilities that help customers achieve their business objectives,” he said. “Whether locally or globally, our focus remains on customer experience, customer choice, and customer success.”
The forum also highlighted the changing role of procurement, which PLDT Chief Procurement Officer Louella F. Calixtro said has moved beyond cost management toward strategic decision-making.
“Procurement is no longer just about achieving savings. It is about shaping investment decisions, influencing where capital is deployed, and identifying partners that can help the organization create sustainable value,” Calixtro said.
She said supply chain disruptions and rapid technology changes have increased the importance of resilient business ecosystems.
“The conversation has shifted from choosing the supplier with the lowest cost to identifying the partner that can support you throughout your business journey,” Calixtro said. “The real measure of a partnership is not the contract itself, but how that partner behaves when challenges emerge.”
Calixtro said resilient ecosystems can help organizations maintain business continuity, accelerate innovation and maximize returns from strategic investments.
The forum’s discussions reflected PLDT Group’s shift toward an integrated digital services model and emphasized collaboration among enterprises, technology providers and industry partners as businesses adapt to a changing digital economy.
