BUSINESS TECH | Hexnode unveils AI orchestration platform for IT, security
The platform is designed to reduce the need for administrators to move between separate systems when handling IT and security tasks.
Enterprise software provider Hexnode has introduced an artificial intelligence platform designed to coordinate IT and security operations across multiple enterprise systems.
Hexnode Synapse, unveiled Sept. 10 at HexCon26, is an agentic orchestration layer that coordinates AI agents, approvals and system actions around requests, alerts and events.
The platform is designed to reduce the need for administrators to move between separate systems when handling IT and security tasks. It connects workflows across Hexnode’s Unified Endpoint Management (UEM), Extended Detection and Response (XDR) and Identity Provider (IdP) products, as well as external enterprise systems.
“If you look at the real work of IT, nothing ever happens inside just one system,” Hexnode CEO and founder Apu Pavithran said during the conference.
“Onboarding a person touches identity, devices, and your HR system. Responding to a threat touches the endpoint, the user’s access, and the ticket. And today, a person is the one connecting all of that, every single time,” he said.
Synapse uses specialized AI agents to assess incoming requests and alerts, determine the next steps and perform actions within administrator-defined limits.
The platform initially includes a Device Agent for diagnostics, compliance remediation, patching, vulnerability remediation and device provisioning; an Identity Agent for access requests, identity lifecycle operations, role changes and account-related tasks; and a Threat Agent for alert triage, threat investigation and containment.
Organizations can also configure custom agents for workflows involving their own tools and knowledge bases.
Synapse can coordinate tasks across multiple systems. For example, a new-hire onboarding request can trigger identity creation, application licensing, device configuration, endpoint protection policies and an IT ticket as part of a single workflow, according to Hexnode.
The platform includes guardrails and approval requirements intended to keep sensitive actions under human control. Actions such as device wiping, endpoint isolation and privileged access changes require approval from a designated person before execution.
“Routine work can happen on its own. Anything consequential comes back to a person, and if the system is not sure, that comes back to a person too,” Pavithran said.
Synapse also records autonomous and approved actions in an Execution Centre. The record includes the event that triggered a request, the agent’s decision, the person who approved an action and the action executed, according to the company.
At launch, Synapse integrates with ServiceNow, Zendesk, Microsoft Entra ID and BambooHR, alongside Hexnode UEM, XDR and IdP. Hexnode said it plans to expand the number of integrations and the platform’s capabilities.
Synapse is scheduled to enter an invite-only trial later this year.
