AION UT IN MOTION

GAC Philippines launched the all-electric AION UT hatchback in the Philippine market as the company expanded its electric vehicle lineup for urban mobility.

The five-seater compact EV debuted in Manila on May 20, with the company positioning the model for city driving and daily commuting. The AION UT has already been introduced in markets including Thailand, Australia, Europe and Latin America.

Steven Wang, senior vice president of GAC International, said the launch would help broaden the company’s offerings in the Philippines.

“We are thrilled to bring another global hit from GAC’s line of innovations to the Philippines through the AION UT,” Wang said. “We are confident that the AION UT will bolster dynamic, safe, and sustainable driving for Filipinos upon its entry this 2026.”

The vehicle features a 2,750-mm wheelbase and 905 mm of rear legroom, along with a 440-liter cargo area expandable through folding rear seats. It also supports vehicle-to-load capability, allowing the car to power external electronic devices.

GAC said the AION UT comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and a 360-degree camera system.

The Elite variant uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 100 kilowatts or 136 horsepower and 145 Newton-meters of torque. It is powered by a 47.1-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery using GAC’s “Magazine Battery” technology.

According to the company, the EV supports DC fast charging from 30% to 80% in about 30 minutes. The model also includes a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

The AION UT Elite is priced at P998,000 with an introductory discount valid until June 30. GAC is also offering an additional P20,000 discount for the first 400 units sold.

GAC Philippines said customers can reserve the vehicle through dealerships nationwide. The company currently operates a network of 30 dealerships in the country.
