TECH NEWS | NVIDIA expands Southeast Asia AI push with public sector deployments
The developments were highlighted as part of NVIDIA’s AI Day Singapore, where the company presented its work with governments, businesses and technology partners across Southeast Asia.

overnments and businesses across Southeast Asia are moving artificial intelligence projects from experimentation toward wider deployment, with NVIDIA and its regional partners developing AI applications for public services, safety, health care and other sectors.
NVIDIA said its work with regional partners is focused on four areas: improving government operations and service delivery, developing AI-powered citizen services, strengthening critical infrastructure and public safety, and supporting startups, developers and researchers.
In Singapore, the Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is researching the use of NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Super and Nemotron 3 Nano Omni models for public safety applications. NVIDIA said the models could support complex reasoning, agentic workflows and multimodal applications using operational data.
NCS is also using Nemotron models and NVIDIA’s video search and summarization technology for agentic AI applications across enterprises and the public sector. ST Engineering is using NVIDIA NeMo tools and NVIDIA cuOpt software to develop its AI Studio platform and deploy agentic AI applications across its businesses.
Regional AI applications
Similar projects are underway elsewhere in Southeast Asia.
Malaysia’s YTL AI Labs is fine-tuning Nemotron models for enterprise and citizen services, while Viettel AI is adapting the models for Vietnamese-language applications.
In Thailand, the Big Data Institute and iApp Technology are exploring Nemotron as a foundation model for legal applications. iApp Technology is fine-tuning Nemotron 3 Nano with Thai-language legal data using the NVIDIA NeMo framework.
The resulting OpenThai 2.0 Legal model is being used as the engine for Thanoy, a legal-assistant chatbot that NVIDIA said has about 43,000 users.
In Brunei, Antrique has developed an AI innovation platform aimed at improving productivity in the food sector.
NVIDIA said its Cosmos open world models and video search and summarization technology are also being used in smart city applications. Malaysia’s ITMAX is using the technologies for city traffic operations, while Thailand’s AS-TECH is applying them to passenger-flow management at airports.
The company also highlighted the expansion of its Nemotron open models among enterprises, technology providers and research organizations developing AI applications tailored to Southeast Asian languages, industries and communities.
AI Singapore is incorporating Nemotron open models and NVIDIA NeMo tools into its SEA-LION family of models designed for Southeast Asian languages and cultures.
In Vietnam, Viettel AI has been fine-tuning Nemotron 3 Super for Vietnamese-language and agentic applications. FPT Smart Cloud has also developed an open dataset, Nemotron-Personas-Vietnam, based on Vietnamese demographic and cultural data.
Sea adopts Vera Rubin
Separately, Singapore-founded technology company Sea Limited has become the first enterprise in the ASEAN region to adopt NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform, according to NVIDIA.
Sea operates Shopee, Garena and Monee across Southeast Asia. NVIDIA said the company plans to use the platform to develop and deploy AI models and intelligent agents at greater scale.
AI is already used across Sea’s businesses. On Shopee, it is used to assist sellers with product listings, product discovery and customer engagement. Monee applies AI to areas including fraud detection and credit risk assessment, while Garena uses AI in gaming applications.
NVIDIA said Vera Rubin will provide additional computing capacity for Sea as it expands its AI applications.
The developments were highlighted as part of NVIDIA’s AI Day Singapore, where the company presented its work with governments, businesses and technology partners across Southeast Asia.
