Apple has announced a redesigned iPad mini featuring an 8.5-inch OLED display, a new A20 Pro processor and water and dust resistance, with Philippine prices starting at P49,990.
The latest model retains the compact tablet’s footprint while adopting thinner bezels, a lighter 5.4-millimeter profile and an IP67 rating. It will be available in midnight and starlight finishes, with storage options of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.
The Super Retina XDR OLED display offers a 2 million-to-1 contrast ratio, support for the P3 wide color gamut and peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits. Apple said the brightness is more than twice that of the previous generation. A nano-texture option is also available to reduce glare in bright environments.
The A20 Pro chip brings improvements to graphics processing and on-device artificial intelligence (AI). Apple claims up to 4.5 times faster AI performance and up to 2.7 times faster graphics performance than the previous-generation iPad mini.
The processor features a GPU with Neural Accelerators in each core, alongside a CPU offering up to 60% faster multithreaded performance, according to the company. The 512GB configuration also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine for more demanding on-device AI workloads.
The tablet introduces an Acoustic Display system with specially designed woofers and tweeters integrated into its construction. Its cameras include a 12-megapixel Center Stage front camera positioned along the landscape edge and a 12-megapixel rear camera supporting 4K video recording at up to 60 frames per second.
Connectivity upgrades include Apple’s N1 wireless chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. Cellular models use the C2 modem system, which Apple said provides up to 50% faster cellular data speeds than the previous generation.
The new iPad mini runs iPadOS 27, which includes updated Liquid Glass customization options and support for extended display mode when connected to an external monitor through iPadOS 27.2.
It supports Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C). Apple is also introducing a new Smart Folio made with TechWoven fabric, available in navy blue and taupe.
In the Philippines, the Wi-Fi model starts at P49,990, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular version starts at P59,990. Education pricing starts at P45,990.
The Smart Folio costs P5,690. Apple Pencil Pro is priced at P8,690, or P7,990 with education savings, while Apple Pencil (USB-C) costs P4,990, or P4,390 with education savings.
Apple said the new iPad mini will be available soon through its Philippine website and authorized resellers.
The company also said the tablet contains 35% recycled material overall, including recycled aluminum in its enclosure and recycled cobalt in its battery. Manufacturing uses 40% renewable energy across the supply chain, as part of Apple’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire footprint by 2030.
